Between 2005 and 2008 the race was held on the distance between Murmansk and Vladivostok. In 2009 it became around-the-world expedition. "30 off-road cars take part in the race. The participants will cover 10 thousand kilometers throughout Central Russia, Ural, and Siberia. This is the longest winter off-road car race in the world" the press service reports. One of the key points of the race is crossing the main Caucasus range. The finish will be in the Black sea at the distance of several kilometers off-shore. Three leading teams will go there aboard sailing catamarans. The relative majority of respondents (41%) consider the Day of February 23 the holiday of all Russian men and they have increased in number during recent years (in 2006 only 32% of respondents believed so). The number of those who see this holiday as the day of all Russian military has also grown (from 13% in 2005 to 30% this year). However, fewer respondents keep in mind that the 23rd of February is the birthday of Red Army (46% used to remember it but now only 21%). The Primorsky Territory Administration Department of Industry and Transport reports that the airfield construction site is currently being prepared for building of the civil apron: the lake has been drained and the road base is being filled with rocky ground.      The Vladivostok airfield modernization started in spring of the year 2009 in the framework of Vladivostok preparation for hosting of the APEC Summit in 2012. The Vladivostok International Airport has good prospects to become the largest hub in the region; it can improve the social and economic conditions in the region and realize the Russia’s transit potential in full. "Engtransstroy Corporation" is the prime contractor of the airfield modernization. Till April they are to put into operation the new takeoff and landing strip and build the new wide-body crafts apron. This will make it possible for Vladivostok Airport to serve the aircrafts of Airbus A330 class and Boeing 747 with no restrictions. The building company points out that the most work is seasonal. So currently they are preparing for the spring and carrying out the earth-moving and collector work. In April when the temperature keeps above zero, they will start to cover the runway with concrete.
