150 Billion Rubles will Arrive in Primorye for APEC Forum Preparations

This was discussed in Moscow with the Governor Sergey DARKIN, who is now on a business trip in Moscow

VLADIVOSTOK, November 1, vladivostoktimes.com Primorsky Territory Governor Sergey DARKIN met with the Heads of a number of Ministries and Agencies during his business trip to Moscow.

As the press service of the Territory Administration reported to RIA PrimaMedia, Sergey DARKIN met with the Head of the Federal Tariff Service Sergey NOVIKOV.

The discussion was centred on the electricity tariff policy in Primorye. The two officials reached an agreement on creating a work group that will verify the validity of the current tariffs in the sector. The Governor of Primorye also expressed an opinion that abolishing preferences for railroad transportation of the fuel to the Far East is inadmissible.

Besides, the Governor met with the Minister on Economic Development and Trade German GREF. At the meeting they discussed issues on preparation for the APEC Forum, which will be held in Primorye in 2012. It was agreed that a work group would define the necessary arrangements when they come to the region in the middle of November. The group will consist of the specialists of the Ministry on Economic Development and Trade, the Transport Ministry, the President's administrative department, the President's protocol service, and representatives of a number of other ministries and federal agencies.

The group will look into "specific sites that will become the Forum's grounds, infrastructure objects that will have to be built by this important event," said a representative of the press service.

Around 150 billion Rubles will be transferred to Primorye from the federal budget for the preparations.

The Governor plans to meet with the Chairman of RAO UES of Russia, Anatoly CHUBAIS, and the Minister of Finance.

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is the premier Forum for facilitating economic growth, cooperation, trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region. Founded in 1989, APEC has 21 members, Russia, USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, China, and Australia are among them.

APEC accounts for approximately 40% of the world's population, approximately 56% of world GDP and about 48% of world trade.
