VLADIVOSTOK, January 10, vladivostoktimes.com The Year of France in Russian will start with Week of French Films. In 2010 Vladivostok will become the first out of 12 Russian cities which will open Week of French Films. This is a traditional event and Primorye residents always wait for it, as the organizaers reported.

Vladivostok audience will see new program in “Ocean” Cinema between January 21 and 27. The program includes 11 films which were very popular for the latest three years and retrospective of four films by Alain Resnais shot between 1961 and 2006. The films “Last Year in Marienbad” (L'année dernière à Marienbad), “Hearts” (Cœurs), “melodrama” (Mélo), “Familiar Song” (On connaît la chanson) will lead us into many-sided world of relations between man and woman.

Parents’ inheritance is a challenge for children which makes family relations complicated, it’s in the film of Olivier Assayas “Summer Time” (L'heure d'été).

“Human factor” (La Question humaine) is a screen adaptation of the like-named novel of François Emmanuel about young psychologist of one great company who got into area of sterile halls, rich people and numb, neutral language. According to the director Nicolas Klotz, his film is not a film about a corporation but about modern times and the influence of the history on modern life. The film got the reviewers’ prize at the International Film Festival in San Paolo in 2007. For the first time in the frameworks of Week of French Films in Vladivostok, the director will meet the audience in “Ocean” cinema. The instructor of Higher School of Cinematography in French Nicolas Klotz is going not only to present his film but also give his master-class for the beginning Vladivostok film makers.

Fans of animated movies will see block of fifteen animated films.

The detective and comedy film “Time X” (L'heure zero) by Pascal Thomas will open Week of French Films.

When you have lived a long life, you’re alone, your children have their own life and you wait for the time when strength leaves you, you still may believe in great meetings and love. All of this can be seen in the film “The Roofs of Paris” (Sous les toits de Paris) by Hiner Saleem.

“The first comer” (Le premier venu) by Jacques Doillon. Adventurism is the symbol of youth when you want to add new colors and lightness in your ordinary life.

All films will be shown in original languages with Russian subtitles or direct translation for the audience.
