VLADIVOSTOK, January 12, vladivostoktimes.com A special Primorsky Territory Legislative Assembly session was held; its agenda included the election of the Primorsky Territory Governor. Victor ISHAEV, the Plenipotentiary of the RF President in the Far Eastern Federal District, and 32 local MPs took part in the session; they considered Sergey DARKIN as a nominee candidate for the position of the Governor; the correspondent of RIA PrimaMedia informs. Addressing the deputies Victor ISHAEV noted that Sergey DARKIN had gained much experience as the Governor and is worthy of this post. Victor GORCHAKOV, the Chairman of the Primorsky Territory Legislative Assembly, also endorsed a candidate of the incumbent Governor. “I’m backing up the nominee of Sergey M. DARKIN because I have known him for 20 years. He has greatly improved in solving the social and economic problems.” Victor GORCHAKOV says.

Addressing the deputies Sergey DARKIN reported about the achievements of the Primorsky Territory Administration, he also noted that the drift of population away from Primorye is going down; it has decreased 8 times in the past years. Besides, he thanked the President and “United Russia” Party for the confidence given to him and promised to meet the expectations and do his best to make the life in Primorye more comfort.

Vladimir BESPALOV, the leader of the CPRF group in the Primorsky Territory Legislative Assembly, did not back up the candidacy of the incumbent Governor. He mentioned that they would vote “against”.   

Then the deputies voted by secret ballot. It took Sergey DARKIN only to collect 21 votes of the Primorye MPs to keep the post of the governor. 

The results of the voting are: 31 votes “for” and only one “against”
