International Contest "Ice Fantasy" Starts in Khabarovsk

The sculptors create ice maxi-sculptures in the main city square; the winners will be awarded

VLADIVOSTOK, January 25, vladivostoktimes.com The International Contest “Ice Fantasy” started in Khabarovsk on Friday, January 22.

It is the ninth contest of ice sculpture and the teams from Russia, Portugal and Latvia take part in the competition.

As the press-center of the Khabarovsk Territory Government reported to RIA PrimaMedia, the opening ceremony was held on Friday and then the sculptors started working. The contest includes two stages: a lightning tournament and creating of the main sculpture.

The lightning tournament participants have to make ice sculptures in an hour and a half. The main sculpture should be created in three days.

In the framework of the contest the competition among the young sculptors (under 30) is also held; five teams participate in it. The winners of the “Ice Fantasy” are to be named on Monday, January 25. They will be awarded with cups, medals, diplomas and the Khabarovsk Territory Governor reward. The best of the young sculptors will go to China.
