VLADIVOSTOK, February 25, vladivostoktimes.com The All-Russia Center for Opinion Surveys reports on what the Day of February 23 means for the Russians today, respondents’ opinion on the war threat and situation in the regular army; RIA PrimaMedia reports. The relative majority of respondents (41%) consider the Day of February 23 the holiday of all Russian men and they have increased in number during recent years (in 2006 only 32% of respondents believed so). The number of those who see this holiday as the day of all Russian military has also grown (from 13% in 2005 to 30% this year). However, fewer respondents keep in mind that the 23rd of February is the birthday of Red Army (46% used to remember it but now only 21%). Besides, the minority of respondents takes this occasion as an ordinary day off (only 6%). Mainly the middle-aged Russians celebrate the Men Day on February 23 (53% of male respondents and 44% of female). 33% of male respondents celebrate the Armed Force’s Day and the aged Russians celebrate the Red Army’s birthday (37%).
